SAINT Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization in the early stages of developing a protocol to help animals in Eastern El Paso County. The need for this organization is immense and extremely critical. The Pikes Peak Regional Humane Society (PPRHS) resources are stretched very thin when they assist the sheriff with the animal welfare cases in their "out of contract" area. With the help of the El Paso County Sheriff's office and the PPRHS, SAINT Animal Rescue would like to provide the services of our professional volunteers and support organizations to help fill in the gap. All the area in white on the map to the right is the "out of contract" area for the PPRHS (1456 sq miles/nearly 90,000 acres) for which SAINT is providing services. Bubba and Missy 1/4/12
Bubba and Missy came to us from the Canyon City Humane Society almost three weeks ago. Missy was not handling the rigors of shelter life and began to loose interest in living. She was losing weight rapidly. Concerned staff at the Humane Society put out word that these two 8 month old pups would be released to a rescue so Missy would hopefully regain her weight and thrive once again.
Bubba, now with a new name - Boss and Missy is now Sweet Pea are with one of SAINT's foster homes. Boss and Sweet Pea are still timid and a bit fearful but both are coming out of their shell! Sweet Pea is regaining some of her weight and very curious about her surroundings and Boss just loves to run and play!
Both Boss and Sweet Pea are a mix of Chihuahua and Italian Greyhound. They are now up for adoption and will need to be placed together. We do not feel Sweet Pea could handle being with out her brother. Both their happiness and welfare are very important to us. Both Boss and Sweet Pea will require a special home as the breed's slim build make them somewhat fragile, and injury can result from rough or careless play. They might do best in a quiet household with older children. Like any dog, daily exercise is a must for a happier, well-adjusted pet.
